Only five to six percent of daily COVID-19 cases require hospitalization, which is among the lowest percentages worldwide, said the Minister of Health Nathir Obaidat in an interview with Jordan TV Friday. Most patients only require home quarantine, he added.

Jordan is in a difficult phase in terms of the spreading of coronavirus. The virus has spread across the Kingdom and the country must prepare for high numbers of new daily cases. The daily number of cases is not doubling but averaging at approximately 5,000 cases per day, said Obeidat.

The virus is spreading rapidly and causing deaths, which is a reality that must be dealt with. He stressed that Jordan has the ability to overcome the coronavirus crisis with its healthcare worker and citizens' awareness.

Approximately 45 percent COVID-19 patients in Jordan do not show symptoms and are discovered randomly through PCR tests.

The Ministry of Health is currently working on signing an agreement with another private sector hospital in the coming few days, in order to receive coronavirus cases.

There is still no effective vaccine for coronavirus anywhere in the world, he said. The vaccine that he received , along with the Prime Minister, is still in the experimental stage and has not completed all medical procedures to be officially approved.
