Public sector employees are not allowed to take the day before or after the election day (Tuesday) off, announced Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh Thursday.

The announcement was made to prohibit governmental employees from requesting a vacation day on November 9 or 11 to get two days off, since election day has been previously declared an official holiday in Jordan.

The decision includes employees of ministries, official departments, public institutions and entities, local authorities, public universities, municipalities and shared services councils.

The decision excluded employees who are already taking time off of work or were asked not to work on these days based on official governmental decisions.

Exceptions will be made for emergency cases but must be approved by a minister or the director general of the concerned department.
