The Customs Department in Aqaba seized electronic cigarettes (60 units) and shisha supplies (1,000 pieces), said the spokesperson for the Customs Department Thursday.

The contents of the container were declared as LED lighting panels but were caught after going through the X-ray machine. The case has been referred to the attorney general of Customs law for legal action to be taken.

The spokesperson said these items require official approval from the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) and the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO), due to the damage they cause to the health and safety of citizens.

The Customs Department stands against all those who threaten Jordan's economic and social security, said. The department is working on strengthening control at the borders using modern technology.
