The Palestinian Cabinet Monday called on Britain to recognize an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital, to compensate the Palestinian people for what they suffered as a result of the Balfour Declaration.

During the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said that the ill-fated Balfour Declaration gave ownership to those who did not deserve it, violating the rights of the Palestinian people.

Shtayyeh also condemned the recent agreement for research collaboration between the United States and the Israeli Occupation in institutions within the illegal settlements established on Occupied Territories in the West Bank and Golan Heights, noting that it is a dangerous political and legal precedent.

He also condemned the US declaration which will begin listing the Israeli Occupation as the country of birth in passports of those born in occupied Jerusalem.

He stressed that this is in violation of international law and United Nation resolutions.

Shtayyeh said, "extensive settlement operations continue to undermine the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state, which requires broad and serious international action to condemn these operations and block the road from attempts to annex our land."

In addition, Shtayyeh condemned the settlers' assault on olive pickers, stealing crops, and setting fire to about 1,000 trees within the past three weeks.

Furthermore, the international community called for urgent interventions to save the life of captive Maher Al-Akhras, who is on hunger-strike for the ninety-ninth day, demanding for his immediate release.
