The Minister of Interior Tawfiq Al-Halalmeh Friday stressed the importance of compliance with defense orders and avoid gatherings for weddings, special occasions and elections for more than 20 people. Legal action will be taken against those who do not comply, he added.

The decision was based on the latest developments regarding the COVID-19 situation in Jordan, the increase in the number of coronavirus cases, and citizens' noncompliance with defense orders. These have led to negative consequences on citizens' health and safety.

Halalmeh called on administrative governors to prioritize this matter and cooperate with the relevant security authorities to ensure compliance and prevent further spreading of the virus.
