The National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) Wednesday called for action to be taken to investigate images circulating on social media platforms of Al-Bashir Emergency Ward.

The pictures showed extreme overcrowding and patients complaining about not receiving necessary medical care. Therefore, the center is calling on the hospital to implement the necessary measures to address the issue.

The NCHR called for the continuous provision of information related to the hospital's plans to confront the coronavirus crisis, especially if the number of cases continues to rise.

The center stressed the importance of implementing precautionary measures to eliminate the spreading of COVID-19 in Al-Bashir Hospitals, such as isolating testing areas, increasing the number of examination centers and ensuring the readiness of the hospital.

He pointed out the need to provide the necessary equipment to protect staff members from contracting the virus.

The NCHR recommended studying the possibility of establishing specialized field hospitals to provide health care for coronavirus patients.

In light of the increasing number of coronavirus cases, clear mechanisms must be put in place to follow up on people in home quarantine.

A small percentage of COVID-19 patients require hospitalization, he said. Most people only require home quarantine and it is imperative that they remain isolated to eliminate further spreading of the virus.
