The daily government briefing which announces COVID-19 infections and death rates has announced that the mortality rate Friday, has reached 508 since the start of the coronavirus crisis in March.

Jordan has recorded 27 new COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

On a weekly basis, Jordan has entered an unprecedented record since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, as this week, the number of deaths from the COVID-19 reached 199 and 13,432 new infections were recorded.

The Head of the Coronavirus Portfolio at the Ministry of Health, Wael Al-Hayajneh, confirmed that the health situation in Jordan calls for caution.

Al-Hayajneh indicated that the ministry is undertaking a fundamental transition process from paper monitoring of data related to coronavirus testing, to a complete electronic entry process, from the initial stage until the PCR test results are released.

The individual who took the PCR test will be notified of the results as soon as they come out, thus speeding up the process and saving time.

In regards to the Jordanian healthcare system capabilities, Al-Hayajneh indicated that there are 1,300 beds designated for COVID-19 patients with no dangerous symptoms, 700 Intensive Care Unit beds and 600 ventilators.
