The Ministry of Health clarified that a COVID-19 contact is anyone who:

  • Lives with someone who tested positive for COVID-19
  • Works with someone who tested positive for COVID-19
  • Came into direct contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 through touch
  • Came into close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 (less than two meters)

These people must be tested for coronavirus.

The Ministry's Public Relations and Media Manager Ammar Al-Sweiti said they are currently implementing a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of compliance with health and safety measures.

The ministry called on COVID-19 patients and contacts to self-isolate and abide by precautionary measures, even if they do not suffer from any symptoms.

He said home quarantine is one of the most important ways to reduce further spreading of the virus, as well as social distancing, wearing facemasks and avoiding large gatherings.
