All citizens will now receive their PCR test result in an text message, said a Ministry of Health official Thursday.

All those who get tested will receive a message informing them whether they tested negative or positive for COVID-19.

Director of E-Transformation and Information Technology Directorate Fatima Hammad said the aim is to quickly inform citizens of their test results so that they can isolate themselves in a timely manner, which helps to reduce further spreading of the virus.

She explained that COVID-19 investigation teams have started entering data electronically and using barcode stickers. 

The new electronic system includes laboratories in all sectors aiming to establish a comprehensive national database for all the PCR test results.
