Thousands of people gathered in Paris on Sunday to pay homage to the teacher who was beheaded on Friday, for showing his students caricatures of Prophet Muhammad, according to AFP News Agency.

Demonstrators held posters saying: “No to totalitarianism of thought” and “I am a teacher” in memory of the victim.

In addition, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has called what happened as an "Islamist terrorist attack."

The suspected killer who was shot dead by police was an 18-year-old from Chechnya and born in Moscow, a judicial source told AFP on Saturday.

However, a total of four people, including a minor, have been arrested following the attack, which took place in the Conflans Sainte-Honorine suburb northwest of Paris, the judicial source added.
