The number of coronavirus cases has reached 39,656,863 around the world and the death toll has passed 1,110,000 people, according to Worldometer on Saturday.

In addition, a total of 29,695,000 people have recovered from the virus.

The U.S. has topped the list of countries worst affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, recording more than 223,000 deaths and 8,291,302 total cases.

India is in second place with 113,032 deaths and 7,432,680 total cases, while Brazil has ranked third with 153,229 deaths and 5,201,570 cases.

Russia ranks fourth with 24,002 deaths and 1,384,235 infections.

The World Health Organization(WHO) has previously announced that COVID-19 is now the fifth leading cause of death in Europe.
