The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) inspection teams, in coordination with the relevant security authorities, have seized a sewing factory in Umm Nuwara, Amman, after discovering that they were manufacturing unauthorized face masks without any legal licenses, on Thursday.

The inspection teams seized and confiscated an estimated 2,500 face masks from the factory.

The Medical Supplies and Devices Directorate have seized 10,000 cloth and surgical masks over the past two months, confirmed the JFDA.

In light of the coronavirus crisis, the JFDA added that inspection tours will be ongoing to ensure that mask manufacturers have the necessary licenses and comply with the required specifications and standards in adherence to Defense Order 11.
