The running period for upcoming Parliamentary elections has ended, announced the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, Khaled Kalaldeh, on Thursday.

The number of candidate applicants totaled to 1,319 men and 365 women. Meanwhile, in 2016, the number of cadidates was 1,252. 

In comparison to the 2016 elections, there was an increase in women candidates by 113.

People who ran as candidates in Jordan’s 19th Parliamentary elections registered on October 6, 7 and 8.

The Independent Elections Commission(IEC) has called for all applicants to adhere to COVID-19 related health and safety measures, which include social distancing by avoiding overcrowding.
