The Great Amman Municipality is preparing 250 new Islamic concrete graves in Sahab Cemetery in light of the rising COVID-19 death rate, said an informed source from the Municipality on Sunday.

The graves are expected to be completed within the next 48 hours, the source added.

The Municipality had already built 96 graves at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in March.

No fees for these graves were collected from the families of the deceased, unlike other municipalities.

The National Institute of Forensic Medicine, in coordination with concerned authorities, has developed safe procedures to bury the bodies, which includes building graves, and safely handling the bodies before and after burial.
