The actual number of coronavirus cases in Jordan is expected to be 10 times as much as the recorded number, said the former minister and member of the National Committee for Epidemics, Azmi Mahafzah, on Roya's Nabd Albalad on Tuesday.

"Isolating areas is useless, and a total lockdown only postpones the problem and does not solve it," he added.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the Kingdom is below the global average, he added.

The coronavirus crisis will be considered under control in Jordan when less than 5% of PCR tests come back positive, over a period of one week, said Mahafzah.

Currently the percentage of positive cases is higher than 5%, he added.

A study has shown that the actual number of positive cases in Jordan is approximately 10 times as much as the official number.
