The National Institute of Forensic Medicine is awaiting autopsy results of a man who died in a private hospital in Jordan from COVID-19 in September, in order to examine the results of coronavirus on the human body, especially the lungs, liver and kidneys.

The autopsy was conducted by a medical team in cooperation with the Institute and the University of Jordan, said the Head of the National Center for Forensic, Adnan Abbas, on Tuesday.

This was following a request from the Public Prosecutor in order to determine the cause of death, since the patient died upon his arrival to a private hospital. The results of the examination later showed that he was infected with COVID-19, Abbas added.

However, clear signs of lung infections were evident, along with infections of the rest of the organs, Abbas added.

The National Institute of Forensic Medicine is currently awaiting the sample test results taken from the body. The cause of death was severe pneumonia and coronavirus-related complications, confirms Abbas.
