Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, Minister of Health, Saad Jaber and the spokesman for National Committee for Epidemics, Nathir Obaidat, held a press briefing at the Prime Ministry on Monday.

The press briefing talked about the COVID-19 situation in Jordan.

The government has put new strict measures to reopen the closed sectors, which include mosques, churches, restaurants and cafes, and these measures will be announced in the next few days, Adaileh said.

In addition, Adaileh said not everyone will be subjected to home-quarantine. People who will be subjected to institutional-quarantine are; the elderly, people who have different illnesses, people who need special health care and those who do not meet the requirments of home-quarantine.

Jordan will implement home-quarantine only, if COVID-19 cases continue to increase, Adaileha added.

A total of 734 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Jordan on Monday, 721 of which are local cases, Jaber said.

In addition, six coronavirus deaths have been reported on Monday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 51.

Jordan has entered the nationwide spread stage of the coronavirus crisis, Obaidat said.

The National Committee for Epidemics called for increasing centers where PCR tests are being conducted and expansion of hospital capabilities.

However, Obaidat said there is a huge difference between 'herd immunity' and 'nationwide spread'.
