The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), in cooperation with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), implemented the “Responding to COVID-19 outbreak in Jordan by supporting medically vulnerable households to limit their exposure to COVID-19 and meeting their basic and health needs,” with funding from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

The project reached approximately 10,000 families, provided assistance to more than 2,100 families and distributed 8,500 parcels containing hygiene-related items such as soap, hand sanitisers, disinfectants, detergent, and feminine hygiene products.

The project also worked on raising awareness about COVID-19 and the measures that must be taken to prevent further spreading of the virus.

The project was successfully implemented in areas with a high number of positive coronavirus cases in Amman, Madaba and Irbid.

DRC’s Jordan Country Director, Stephan Deutekom, thanked the JHCO and Novo Nordisk Foundation saying: “DRC is very grateful to our Donor, Novo Nordisk Foundation, for their quick and significant contribution to the most vulnerable people of Jordanian society. We also would like to thank Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) for their great support in distributing the hygiene items as well as to the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation for their quick response to facilitate the implementation of the project”.
