Jordan began imposing a one-week home quarantine period, instead of institutional quarantine, for travelers arriving in the Kingdom from red and yellow countries on Wednesday.

The Minister of Transport, Khaled Seif, had previously announced the decision in a press conference on September 17.

The Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Al-Adaileh stressed during the press briefing on Tueday, the need to adhere to home quarantine guidelines.

Local authorities will conduct inspections to ensure people are abiding by home quarantine measures and limit the spread of COVID-19, he added.

Defense Order number 8 of 2020 will be utilised to punish those who violate home quarantine instruction, he said.
