Jordan accomplished a major achievement by exporting 93 million masks to different countries around the world, said the Director General of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, Nizar Muhaidat, on Tuesday.
Jordan provided 93,484,907 masks, 21,036,901 sterilisers, 50,000 face shields, 438,856 hospital gowns, and six sterilisation gates, he said
Jordan produces 4.5 million masks on a daily basis, which covers the country’s needs and exports to more than 70 countries.
Al-Muhaidat praised the capacity of the local industry, pointing out that Jordan did not produce significant amounts of masks or medical sterilisers before the coronavirus crisis.
“This qualitative leap is a result of the instructions and insightful vision of His Majesty the King, who directed the focus on food and pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical supplies, in addition to the follow-up of Prime Minister, Dr Omar Razaz, for all production procedures", Muhaidat added.
According to Muhaidat, 15 surgical mask factories and approximately 32 fabric masks factories have been established and licensed, since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis.
