The Ministry of Education has banned communication between students and teachers over social media, announced the Minister of Education, Tayseer Al-Nuaimi, in a radio interview on Tuesday.

Interaction between teachers and students should be limited to the official online education platform Darsak 2, he added.

The use of social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook is not allowed.

The communication feature has been activated on the Darsak 2; users can by send messages, tests and assignments as of Tuesday morning.

This service has also been made available to private and UNRWA schools.

There will be new decisions regarding the reopening of schools after the 14-day closure period ends, he said.

The decision to reduce the number of working days for Tawjihi students is the right decision, which aims to sustain the educational process and protect students' health, he added.
