Regarding the news about the dog that tested positive for coronavirus, the Jordan Veterinarians Associations said the result of the of the dog's first coronavirus test was positive but the second came back negative, in a statement issued on Saturday.

The dog is most likely healthy, as the owner has tested negative, the statement added.

Official reports issued by the World Organization for Animal Health and the World Health Organization show that in some rare cases animals have been infected with COVID-19 including some tigers and lions in countries such as the United States of America, Belgium and Hong Kong, said the association.

It is scientifically proven that all these animals came into contact with people who tested positive for coronavirus.

Animals do not transmit the virus to humans or other animals, added the association.

"If there are infections in pets, and this, as mentioned above, is rare, then the best method in such cases is to isolate the affected animals in specialized centers or in-home isolation far from family members and to deal with the infected animal with caution, knowing that symptoms do not appear on most of the affected animals, and if they do appear, they are usually mild respiratory symptoms,” said the association.
