Minister of Health: Jordanians should be patient for the next two to three months

The Minister of Health, Dr. Saad Jaber, called on Jordanians to be patient for two to three months and adhere to wearing facemasks, in an interview with Jordan TV on Friday.

Jaber said he noticed people are shaking hands and kissing again, which can be harmful and should be avoided.

"We, as courageous citizens, say what will happen will happen, but we have people and loved ones that we must protect," he added.

Herd immunity is not an option for Jordan, said Jaber.

The increase in the number of cases is due to the reopening of border crossings, incoming travelers and the "false reassurance" that spread among citizens due to previous decrease in the number of cases.

He explained that there is no contradiction in government decisions regarding the closure and opening of some areas and schools — decisions are made based on the COVID-19 situation in the country.
