An imam who works in a mosque in Russeifa district has tested positive for COVID-19, announced Russeifa's Awqaf director, Mohammed Fawzi, on Wednesday.

The imam contracted the virus after he came into contact with a positive case in Amman. The COVID-19 investigation teams took samples from everyone who came into contact with the infected.

However, mosques will shut down for a period of 14 days starting Thursday, announced the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, Muhammad Al-Khalayleh, on Monday.
