Education expert: Distance learning is a temporary alternative
Education expert: Distance learning is a temporary alternative

Distance education came as a temporary alternative to adapt to exceptional circumstances, said the educational expert, Ali El-Hakashi, on Tuesday.

Teaching in classrooms enables the student to possess educational skills that cannot be provided through distance learning, which has many disadvantages, he added.

Distance education does not include interaction or evaluation processes in a way that distinguishes between students, and lacks the environment which provides healthy competition between students.

Writing, reading and sports cannot be taught remotely, as it requires interaction between students and teachers.

Online education trains students to learn through projects, research and reports, which benefits older students.

Remote learning cannot be a substitute for classroom education and should be used alongside it.

There are several negative effects for distant learning such as as isolation and distraction, he said.

Al-Hakashi said if distance education has many benefits, then why don't leading countries shut their schools down, swith to distance learning and save a lot of money.
