The amount owed by the student who lit himself on fire on a private university campus, Ahmed Al-Shakhanbeh, does not exceed JD 8,000, said the student's father on Tuesday.
After 10 days of failed attempts to discuss the fines with the university's president, the student told him, "How about I burn myself", to which the president replied, "If you are a [real] man, burn yourself," said he said.
A Jordanian citizen, who wishes to remain anonymous, donated the amount the money the student owes the university and the reason he set himself on fire.
The citizen contacted Roya after reading the news and offered him employment in one of his companies.
