The first two positive cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the Azraq Refugee Camp on Monday night, announced the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Jordan (UNHCR) confirmed, on Tuesday.

The UNHCR works closely with the Directorate of Syrian Refugees Affairs and the Ministry of Health, to implement the suitable health and safety procedures to trace contacts and conduct PCR tests.

The residences of the infected people and their neighbours have been isolated, and the refugees have been transferred to quarantine areas inside the camp.

“We are grateful for the Jordanian government that refugees are included in the national response plan for coronavirus,” said the UNHCR.

Both refugees were transferred to the Dead Sea isolation areas and samples were taken from all the people who came into contact with the patients.
