The 53-year-old woman who died from coronavirus had tested positive for COVID-19 five days ago, said the director of Prince Hamzah Hospital, Abdul Razzaq Al-Khashman, on Tuesday.

The deceased was diagnosed with severe pneumonia due to coronavirus and her oxygen levels dropped, after which she was put on breathing support.

The woman did not have any underlying health issues and was one of five critical cases in the Intensive Care Unit on Monday.

Contrary to circulating rumours, the woman was not one of the people who were given the Emarati-Jordanian vaccine by the Ministry of Health, he said.

The deceased contracted the virus after coming into contact with other positive cases.

Prince Hamzah Hospital has approximately 90 ongoing research studies regarding COVID-19, he said.

He called on citizens to abide by Defense Order number 11 and to not underestimate the virus because it affects all ages and can be fatal, he added.
