The classification of countries as green, yellow and red was not a political or economic decision, said the Minister of Transport , Khaled Seif, on Roya’s Nabd Albalad on Saturday.

Green, yellow and red countries were categorized based on their COVID-19 situation and these lists will be updated every 14 days, he added.

Travelers coming from a green country will remain at the airport for up to four hours after landing, until the results of their coronavirus tests come out.

Arriving passengers will have to get tested prior to departing from the country of origin, a maximum of 72 hours in advance, and will have to pay for the PCR tests to be conducted upon arrival to Amman.

COVID-19 tests are not required for children under five years of age.

Saif said the online platforms for expatriates who wish to return to Jordan will remain active.

A fine of JD 10,000 will be imposed travelers who provide false information regarding their coronavirus status.

Queen Alia International Airport will not receive more than three to four flights during the first week following the airport’s reopening, he said.
