Two new COVID-19 cases among medical staff at Jordan University Hospital

A further two coronavirus cases were recorded among the medical staff at the Jordan University Hospital on Friday evening, bringing the total number of infections at the hospital within the past 72 hours to three, a source told Roya.

The source of infection of the medical staff at the hospital is still unknown, director of Jordan University Hospital, Abdul Aziz Ziyadat, told Roya on Saturday morning.

The first case recorded at the hospital involved a pharmacist who works there, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday.

The two new COVID-19 cases involve people who had come into contact with the pharmacist who was immediately transferred to quarantine at Prince Hamza Hospital, the source added.

Random tests were conducted by the COVID-19 investigation teams on patients and medical staff.

The Jordan University Hospital issued new regulations on Friday, after it has recorded new coronavirus cases, which included:

  • Visiting patients who are lying on recovery beds is strictly prohibited until further notice.
  • The endoscopy unit will be closed on Sunday for sterilization purposes.
  • Patient admissions will be suspended for a period of 48 hours for sterilization purposes, starting from Saturday morning until Sunday evening.
  • The outpatient appointments will be reserved via the online platform only, unless there is an emergency case.
