A total of 747 people were arrested and 185 vehicles seized for breaking lockdown and curfew rules since 11pm on Thursday, announced the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Friday morning.

A 24-hour total lockdown had been imposed in Amman and Zarqa, starting 11pm on Thursday, while the rest of the Kingdom continues to have an overnight curfew from 11pm until 6am.

The PSD had deployed police officers to various regions of the Kingdom since on Thursday night.

Local authorities have cancelled 14 events that were scheduled for Thursday night — all hosts, organizers and some guests were arrested.
