The Jordanian government has announced it is considering a one-day lockdown across Amman and Zarqa in response to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, but residents are not happy about the prospect of being stuck indoors again.

Eight new local coronavirus cases had been recorded in Zarqa, which has a population of 1.5 million people, and people there have expressed their discontent at the possibility of a lockdown.

Three further cases were recorded in Zarqa on Monday, bringing the total number in Zarqa to 11.

A Zarqa resident said implementing a lockdown and increasing the length of the curfew was an "injustice" considering the small number of cases recorded there.
