Updated list of sectors most affected by coronavirus

The list of sectors most affected by the coronavirus crisis was updated based on Defence Order number six, that regulayes the wages for the month of August, announced the Minister of Labour, Nidal Al-Batayneh, on Sunday.

The sectors added to the list include the Dead Sea products sector, agencies for university services, exchange companies at airports and border crossings, and visa offices.

The process of re-evaluation is carried out on a regular basis by a joint committee with members from the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.

The updated list includes the following 24 sectors:

1. Tourist establishments licensed under Tourism Law and the regulations and instructions issued pursuant thereto, with the exception of establishments within the boundaries of Aqaba’s Special Economic Zone.

2. Employment establishments licensed under the Labour Law and the regulations issued thereunder.

3. Facilities for the recruitment and employment of domestic workers, licensed under the Labour Law and the regulations issued thereunder.

4. Facilities for air, land and sea transport for individuals, aircraft catering facilities, aircraft maintenance services, and duty-free shops at airports and border crossings.

5. Public transport facilities.

6. Facilities for organizing parties, festivals, conferences and exhibitions.

7. Wedding hall facilities as well as wedding and event supplies rental facilities.

8. Sports and recreational club facilities, swimming pools and oriental baths.

9. Cultural centre installations.

10. Establishments for the trade of clothing, shoes and accessories.

11. School, kindergarten and nursery facilities.

12. Tourist car rental facilities.

13. Health club facilities.

14. Professional and technical training academies and centres.

15. Recreational places and parks.

16. Cinemas and theatre installations.

17. Private sector museums.

18. The wood and furniture industries.

19. Leather and knitting industries.

20. Construction industries.

21. Dead Sea products.

22. Agencies for university services.

23. Money exchange companies at airports and border crossings.

24. Visa issuing offices.
