All countries previously listed as green by Norway have been marked as yellow, following an increase in the number of coronavirus cases in those countries.

In a statement, Norway’s Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, urged people to avoid all nonessential travel overseas.

“All trips abroad are associated with a risk of infection, even trips to countries where Norway does not require quarantine upon entry,” said Solberg.

“Thus, we believe there is no basis for calling any country green now.”

The Norway government’s decision does not mean people arriving from yellow status countries will have to quarantine on arrival.

Quarantine is mandatory, however, for travellers arriving from countries marked red. These include Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Iceland, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, as well as countries categorised as a shaded area – most non-EU countries.
