Irbid health authorities test 1,238 amid new COVID-19 cases

The Jaber Border Crossing employees infected with coronavirus live in Irbid, Director of Irbid Health, Riyadh al-Shayeb, said.

All residential areas where cases have been identified have been isolated and tests have been carried out on everyone who came into contact with those who are infected, said al-Shayeb.

COVID-19 investigation teams have taken 1,238 samples since yesterday; 350 of which were people who were in direct contact with infection cases, while the other 888 were random samples, all of which were sent to the central laboratory in Amman. The results are currently being awaited.

With regards to the areas which were isolated in Irbid by the authorities, al-Shayeb said that the northern Mazar area and the al-Zamal area were isolate, along with five buildings where infected cases reside.

Al-Shayeb added that all the infected cases were transferred from the Jaber Border Centre to Prince Hamzah Hospital in Amman.

He also confirmed that there are no new cases of the coronavirus recorded in Irbid, Tuesday morning.
