A Palestinian woman has died at the age of 118, possibly making her the oldest person to live in the territory according to speculations by people across social media.

Hindia Hamayel, from Nablus, left behind her 170 grandchildren.

One of them said: "We were saved by her prayers for us!"

Throughout her life Hamayel remained in good health and always visited her family members. She had a strong memory, especially when recalling the period of Ottoman rule.
