The price of gold in Jordan rose to unprecedented levels on Saturday.
The sale price of one gram of 21-carat gold, the most popular choice of carat in Jordan, is now JD 38.50, compared to JD 35 one week ago.
Additionally, the price of one gram of 24-carat gold is JD 45.20 and a gram of 18-carat gold stands at JD 34.10.
The price of both the eight-gram gold British sovereign and the seven-gram Rashadi Lira is JD 302.
According to the General Association for Owners of Jewellery Shops, the demand for gold is still very low in comparison to previous years as a result of the rise in prices as well as the effect COVID-19 has had on weddings.
There are 850 gold merchants and goldsmiths throughout the Kingdom, who together have a minimum of JD 5 billion worth of gold.
