Status of businesses affected by COVID-19 reviewed

The government has outlined the sectors no longer considered badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, after regular operations have resumed.

These sectors will no longer be able to pay employees a reduced salary.

The Ministry of Labour announced on Monday, sectors still impacted by the crisis could reduce workers’ salary payments by 20%, instead of an earlier announced reduction 30%.

The sectors include:

  • newspaper printers,
  • restaurants and pastry shops,
  • theme parks,
  • cafés and coffee shops,
  • advertising and television establishments,
  • charities,
  • real estate offices,
  • auditing offices,
  • law firms,
  • tourist establishments within the borders of Aqaba Economic Zone.
