Jordanians have the right to return from overseas, but the government must be careful to strike a balance between entrance to the Kingdom and national security, said National Committee for Epidemics spokesman, Nazir Obeidat.

Reopening the airport will play an important role in allowing more Jordanians to return home, but it should be considered carefully to ensure the Kingdom maintains its low COVID-19 cases, said Obeidat during in an interview with Roya’s Nabd Al-Balad on Wednesday night.

“Examining 4,000 passengers is a big challenge, and it differs from examining the Jordanians in the country, because it is not easy for arrivals at airports to wait for long periods,” he said.

The tourists who visit Jordan for medical purposes will be welcomed in batches according to specific protocols, he said.

Obeidat also warned of the challenge posed once winter hits, pointing out that coronavirus could be confused with the common flu. He urged citizens to be wary and look out for symptoms.
