Worldwide, the total number of people infected with coronavirus has exceeded eight million, as more than half of them are in Europe and the United States, according to a census conducted by France-Presses Agency on Monday night, June 15 at 22:00 GMT.

Since the COVID-19 epidemic first appeared in China in December 2019, 8,000,202 laboratory-confirmed infections have been recorded, including 435,176 deaths.

Infections number in Europe, the most affected continent by the epidemic, reached 2.417,902 cases, while deaths hit g 188,085.

Since May 10, the reported infections doubled, while more than a million new cases were recorded in the last eight days, according to figures that didn’t clarify the actual number of cases because many countries don’t perform laboratory tests except for the most dangerous cases, while others don’t have sufficient examination capabilities.
