The Ministry of Tourism has allowed restaurants and cafes to offer shisha, provided that people sit in outdoor terraces.

In a statement issued today, the Ministry confirmed that all conditions of public health and safety must be adhered to when serving shisha.

The Ministry stressed that hookahs shall be used only once a day after they are cleaned and sterilized. All staff providing service must adhere to the general conditions of health and safety by wearing special uniforms and strictly ensuring personal hygiene.

According to strict instructions, those under the age of 18 or over 65 will not be allowed to smoke shisha.

People can also bring their own shisha while adhering to all general safety provisions.

Among the Ministry's conditions is comprehensive sterilization of hookahs before and after each use by the customer, by cleaning all parts with water and soap and disinfecting them with sterile materials, according to the global health instructions and conditions.

Steam sterilizers should be used to sterilize all parts of the hookahs and the water inside the water bottle should be changed before and after each use, as sterile material that is not harmful to the health and doesn't affect the flavors must be added to the water.

Among the conditions is that the health mouthpiece must be used once, provided that it should be wrapped and opened to the customer and upon use.

The Ministry called for testing the temperature of the staff periodically and ensuring that there is appropriate spacing between the tables.
