China's mainland recorded two new COVID-19 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, both are of people who arrived from abroad, the National Health Commission (NHC) said in a statement on Thursday, May 28.

"The 31 provincial-level regions of the Chinese mainland reported 23 new asymptomatic cases on Wednesday," the NHC stated.

With the decline in numbers of coronavirus infected cases, Chinese students have gradually returned to class and some international schools in the capital Beijing are preparing to reopen on June 1.
