Seven homes in the northern Jordan Valley region, Irbid, were isolated Saturday evening, May 9, as an 11-year-old child tested positive for COVID-19, the Coronavirus Crisis Cell Executive Committee in Irbid said.

Head of the Committee Radwan Otoom stated that the infected child contracted the virus from his grandfather, who had attended the infamous iftar banquet in Mafraq, as a truck driver infected with the virus held the banquet in his home, transmitting the infection to more than 35.

Otoom said that the child had been taken to the King Abdullah University Hospital, as epidemiological inspection teams are testing more people who had contact with the driver and those who were in close contact with them.
