The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) has decided to reopen the Aqaba Marine Park as well as public and private beaches as of Saturday, May 2.

According to Resolution No. 9 issued by the ASEZA, the Park and beaches will be open from 8 am to 5 pm, with the exception of what is imposed by the National Center for Security and Crisis Management regarding a comprehensive curfew.

People should adhere to the standards of health, public safety, and social distancing, according to the orders issued earlier by the Ministry of Health.

Aqaba was the first Jordanian city in which the nationwide lockdown procedures were eased as no coronavirus cases were reported there since the beginning of the pandemic.

On April 19, the governorate was completely closed down and isolated from the other governorates, where life has gradually returned to normal.

While people in all the other governorates were banned from using their vehicles, residents of Aqaba were allowed to drive or move on foot without any restrictions. In addition, all shops and institutions in the city were allowed to reopen.
