The Gaza Strip has recorded its first two cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Ministry of Health in the coastal enclave announced today.

"Two Palestinians who had traveled from Pakistan tested positive for the virus," said the Ministry's undersecretary, Youssef Abo al-Rish, adding that they have been quarantined in Rafah, a town near the Egyptian border, and did not enter the strip.

The Ministry had placed about 900 people who recently returned to the Gaza Strip in quarantine, while thousands of citizens are currently in self-imposed quarantine at their homes.
