The Central Planning Committee has held a meeting today headed by Minister of Education, Tayseer Noaimi to discuss new decisions taken in light with the recently announced government measures to fight coronavirus.

The Committee has decided the following:

First: Work hours for male and female teachers shall be suspended, as the government had earlier decided to suspend work hours for all educational institutions (kindergartens, nurseries, schools, universities, colleges, institutions and training institutes). Teachers are required to be ready when distance learning is activated.

Second: The directors of the departments at the center of the Education Ministry and the directors of education in the field shall organize the work hours of administrators according to the following:

1. The work of the administrators in the Ministry’s center, the directorates of education and in schools shall continue during the suspension period in a manner that ensures the progress of work and the services provided to parents and students and the work interest are not affected.

2. Provide an opportunity for administrators who are pregnant or who suffer from chronic diseases confirmed by medical reports or who have children in nurseries, kindergartens and the first five grades to obtain leave during the suspension period for, in line with Resolution No. 5 of 2020 issued by the Civil Service Council, Which indicates that the employee is granted annual leave for a period of (10) work days, which will be deducted from the annual leave balance and without affecting their financial entitlements. If the is no balance of annual leave granted to the employee, annual leave for a period of (10) work days will be offered to the teachers, provided that this period is compensated during official holidays and after the official work hours.
