The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #EachforEqual!

The Canadian Embassy in Jordan is celebrating personal contributions to empowering women and to enhancing gender equality.

"We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviors and mindsets can have an impact on our larger society. Collectively, we can each help to create a gender-equal world," the Embassy stated.

In support of this theme, distinguished Jordanian and international panelists will share their experiences in a fireside chat, explaining how they have contributed to empowering women, highlighting the on-going challenges and reflecting on options for the future, with a particular focus on the situation in Jordan. The discussion will be followed by an interactive dialogue between the panelists and the audience.

The thematic panels will discuss women in peace and security, women’s economic empowerment, women’s political participation and gender-based violence. The celebration will also showcase some of the projects implementing partners are undertaking in Jordan.
