Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Saeb Erekat, said Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem will "solely always be under the custodianship of His Majesty King Abdullah II".

In a statement issued by his office on Wednesday, Erekat praised the "honorable and unwavering" stances of His Majesty King Abdullah in this regard, despite the difficult circumstances, by affirming his position to defend Jerusalem.

Erekat said: "The announcement of the US President of the peace plan is only a complete reflection of the Israeli prime minister's mindset."

Accordingly, the state of Palestine will go to the International Criminal Court and the Security Council in the coming days, he said, adding the Palestinian Authority will not attend any meetings alongside the US.

He noted: "Our position is firm, as is Jordan's, which calls for peace, in accordance with international legitimacy and law."
