Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has warned against imposing a new status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

"Israeli practices to disrupt the work of the Jerusalem Waqf Department and the daily intrusions of the Al-Aqsa compound, aim at imposing a temporal and spatial division," the Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

Al-Aqsa, the statement affirmed, is an Islamic endowment that does not any accept compromise," adding Jordan, under the Hashemite leadership, is the custodian of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as it plays this role on behalf of the Arab and Muslim nations.

His Majesty's unwavering stance: "no to an alternative homeland, no to resettlement, no to back down on Jerusalem" will remain among the national's constants that confirm Jordan's role in supporting the Palestinian cause, the statement said, pointing out the ministry, under royal directives, continues defending Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy sites.
