Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abul Saud said on Saturday that the latest heavy downpours have supplied the Kingdom's 15 major dams with about 14 million cubic meters of water, raising their total storage capacity to about 101.5 million cubic meters, or 30%.

He said in a press statement that the King Talal Dam in the Jerash Governorate had "the lion's share" of the weather system and heavy rain, at a storage capacity of about 8.5 million cubic meters.

The minister added that the "cumulative precipitation rate" since the beginning of the season across the Kingdom soared to 3,047 million cubic meters, about 37.2% of the long-term annual rate of about 8.1 billion cubic meters.

He pointed out that the latest rains were heavier in the Central Regions, especially the capital Amman, with a share of about 566 million cubic meters of precipitation that fell on all regions in the last depression.
